Most of her life, she's been a moderate or centrist Republican willing to vote for the Democrat if she thought the Democrat was the better candidate. But around ten years ago, at age 80, she began watching Fox News and it quickly became like a religion to her. Nowadays, she no longer even votes her own interests or values -- just votes the Fox ticket, so to speak. I was just re-reading this one and it struck me how much your parents and my mother are alike politically — at least these days. Your textually expressed thoughts are always clearly intelligent first, interesting second and sharply accurate third. Plus I love that you have the courage to be honest without throwing a bouquet of flowers on a pile of words to make them smell better. I hope someday you write your memoirs of living as a gay man during the early days of the new millennium. The world needs to see how much further we need to travel toward equal rights. I'm going to try to remember to follow you in not acknowledging hereto marriages, even if it's just in fun. :D Might be pretty ironic coming from a straight chick.
