MORMON TEMPLE NEWPORT BEACH 10am Nov 16 DEMONSTRATION
Peaceful Demonstration–PLEASE PASS THIS ON

Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at 10 a.m.
at the Mormon Temple in Newport Beach, Calif.

This will be HUGE – Come be a part of civil rights history!
We must expose those whose agenda is to eliminate the fundamental right of same-sex couples to marry by incorporating their religious beliefs into the
California Constitution. The Mormon Church led the support of Proposition 8 with 40% of the financing. This peaceful demonstration will communicate that:
• We intend to continue this fight for equality until it is won
• Discrimination in any form is harmful to our society
• Our Constitution guarantees equal protection of fundamental rights for all
• We insist on an impermeable separation between church and state

LOCATION: The Mormon Temple and Chapel, 2300 Bonita Canyon Dr., at the
corner of Bonita Canyon and Prairie Rd., in Newport Beach. Located just west of
the 73 toll road; exit Bonita Canyon Dr.; or turn east onto Bonita Canyon Dr. from MacArthur Blvd.

PARKING: We urge everyone to arrive early and park in the Bonita Canyon Sports Park, which is off Prairie Rd., opposite St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and across the street from the Mormon Temple. Drive past the ballpark to the parking lot on the right. There’s also limited street parking. Please DO NOT park at the shopping center at San Miguel and Ford.

BRING: Signs & banners expressing your support for Marriage Equality and Civil Rights, and your outrage at the Yes on 8 Campaign tactics supported by the Mormon Church. American, rainbow and California flags, water.

DRESS for a hot, sunny day. Wear sunscreen, wide-brimmed hat. Call 949-683-2715 for additional information.

Mormon bigot Nancy Ormson, manager of Ormson Hearing Health Care of Amarillo, Texas, called Michelangelo Signorile to complain about how Mormons were being “persecuted.” Apparently, if you hurt somebody and they criticize you for it, that’s persecution.

A Mormon “Yes on 8” Supporter Calls In

Both Nancy and Michelangelo made some historical errors in their conversation; I’m trying to overlook that.

It’s worth a listen, just to hear how the haters don’t think. For Nancy Ormson, the “extermination order” against the Mormons, issued in 1838 by the Governor of Missouri, justifies anything the Mormons might do to anybody else. “We were persecuted,” she says in effect, “so anything we do to anybody else is justifiable.”

Mormons love to talk about the “extermination order.” Ask them how many people were killed under that order, they get very vague all of a sudden. Ask them how the number of people killed under the “extermination order” compares to the number of unarmed civilians the Mormons massacred at Mountain Meadows, and they get very touchy. One does not talk about Mountain Meadows. It’s an insult to talk about Mountain Meadows. All in the past and so irrelevant, you know. Not like that extermination order.

Mormons love to talk about how they’ve been persecuted. Their “martyrs” usually turn out to have been martyred under questionable circumstances — their martyred prophet Joseph Smith, for instance, was killed in a gun battle with a mob after ordering the destruction of an opposition printing press, and their martyred apostle Parley Pratt was killed by the husband of a woman with whom Pratt had run off — but there’s no denying they’ve experienced some measure of persecution.

Why they feel that justifies their persecuting others is beyond me. Why Nancy Ormson thinks she’s being persecuted if people mention her name is beyond me, too. One thing I know for certain: Nancy isn’t being “persecuted” (i.e., having her name mentioned) for her religious beliefs, but for forcing her religious beliefs on others.

Prop 8 Protest in New York at Mormon Temple AGAINST HATE
LGBT New Yorkers and Straight Allies Please Join Us…

Tens of thousands of our brothers and sisters are in the streets in California and Salt Lake City and around the country protesting the votes banning same-sex marriage in California.

Join them! Make your voices heard right here in New York City.

We will tell the Mormon Church how we feel about its relentless campaign to condemn and control our lives. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was, by far, the biggest financer of California’s heinous and hateful Proposition 8. The Mormon Church begged their members to donate money to Prop 8, pouring 20 million dollars into the campaign. And their attacks on us didn’t start there and aren’t about to end. They’re plotting right now to bring their money and influence to bear against the LGBT community everywhere in this country, including trying to prevent marriage equality in New York.

Join us in speaking out against Mormon hate! Stop them taking away your rights!

PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION – BRING SIGNS — ALERT THE MEDIA

This petition isn’t going to help, really, but sign it anyway, because it’s the right thing to do. Only 10 signatures so far:

Investigate the Mormon Church for Prop 8 Involvement

Update: Signature 13. Some asshole, possibly a Mormon and almost certainly a Christian of some sort, has signed it “Yura Schlongluber.” Like schoolyard taunts matter to anybody at this point. Like we haven’t all heard that kind of taunt thousands of times before. Jesus, get a clue, asshole.
